Brocades Painting Series
Like the Indian brocaded saris, The Brocades Painting Series uses bright, loud and vibrant colors from my East Indian roots and heritage within an abstract landscape that speaks to biological patterns at the microscopic level and aerial topography and weaving. Within this series, gold is a constant merging the various elements with a quiet organic chaos. It is within this activity that I find a connection between the mind and the body. The suggested lines or paths in these abstract works capture my memories of the motion of the fabric of the saris in dance as well as the essences of the unique folds and draped material of the saris. These ideas are a foundation of security from which great potential grows. Great happiness and possibilities live within these paintings.
